This is a very small private area. I enjoyed the water fowl, rabbits, bats, and many other birds. The outhouse was the cleanest I have ever seen! This location was a convenient stop on our road trip along I-70. There was firewood waiting.

Weekend Trip to Rabbit Hole Ranch

Host was super communicative and dispersed spots were easy to find. Beautiful sunset over a salt flat from our spot. Felt private and quiet. Mentioned in site description so not a surprise or an issue, but there were a couple friendly ranch dogs who wandered over to say hi and stuck around with us for a bit.

Weekend Trip to High Peaks Campground

Christine was wonderful! Super friendly, communicative and helpful. We came to see the Sand Dunes and Hot Springs. The hot springs are only 20 minutes away and Sand Dunes were about an hour. You can’t really beat the views from the Valley. Gorgeous mountains and there’s a map to help you name all the peaks. We stayed a couple nights in a tent and it was extremely quiet with beautiful stars. The shrubs a bushes do offer quite a bit of privacy as well. Gas stations are sparse out here! Keep that tank full 😀.

Weekend Trip to Glen Isle Resort

We had an amazing experience at Glen Isle Resort! The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. The campsite itself was absolutely beautiful and very comfortable, perfect for our first time camping with our two young children. They had a blast exploring and enjoying the outdoors. This place exceeded our expectations and has quickly become our go-to camping spot. I’ve already been recommending Glen Isle Resort to all our friends who camp. Can’t wait to come back!

Weekend Trip to Mountain Bird Alpine Desert

Paul and his wife have set up an amazing campground! After chatting with Paul for a bit, it became apparent that he's an avid outdoorsman and camper/RV'er, so he knows how to properly set up a campground! Even the firewood he provided was high quality (not the crappy bundles you buy at Ace hardware). The hammocks on top of the shipping container for star gazing were incredible, and I highly recommend checking them out! I'd definitely visit again.

This property is gorgeous! It’s not fancy, but has literally anything you could possibly need. The Mesa views will knock your socks off. Please do remember that the Colorado weather is constantly changing. Be prepared. Communication from the host is prompt and clear. Will totally stay again.

Mary Ruth was truly an exceptional host! She was communicative and helpful from start to finish. We had an absolutely lovely campsite, clean bathrooms, and the whole campground was clearly very well cared for and deeply loved. I wish we could have stayed longer, but looking forward to many future trips to Glen Isle!

1 night at Bright Star Campground

If you are looking for a campsite that feels remote, provides solitude, and has grandiose views of the sky and mountains but it close enough to a small town for emergency supplies, then Brighton Star is the camp for you. The big draws for us were the community pavilion and kitchen, running water, and toilets. The kitchen was extremely clean and a big bonus was that they had an ice machine! Also loved that they had microwaves. The campsite hosts were very responsive, friendly, and helpful. The only downside of our experience was that we had a tough time finding soft ground to lay or tent on. We stayed at the “Sunset” site. If you have a mattress, then you are all set, but if not, be prepared for a rough night of sleep. Must bring mattress. Overall, a wonderful campsite!

Cute place with everything we needed! A flat camping spot with a lovely barrier for wind & privacy, and a picnic table + restrooms. The kitchenette and showers was nice to have access to, although we didn’t use it.

1 night at Lakeside Camping, Water Time :)

My one night stay at Site #3 was idyllic. All sites look beautiful and are well-spaced although I had no neighbors. All appear to be lakefront. Mine had tall pampas grass on the edge. Wood and hatchet are provided. The peace, birdsong and sunset reflection on the water were a great antidote to a day on the highway.

I loved staying here! It was easier to find than I thought it would be. There's bathrooms, showers, a kitchen, a little area to hang out and play ping pong, darts, etc. Plenty of space between spots.

2 nights at A-Lodge Boulder

We loved A Lodge - the jacuzzi was so nice on a cold night and I loved looking out at the creek from the tub. The sauna has a clear glass as well that makes it so beautiful to look at the creek. The bathrooms were very clean, with hot water and the lodge was beautiful! We are big fans and will definitely come back to stay again. 🦋🌈😇

Went well, was very peaceful and quiet besides the geese and coyotes off in the distance howling at night but that’s the beauty of nature. The porta potty was clean and fresh, kinda scary we had a note drop out of the paper holder inside and it said $100 for half an hour call for a good time signed Angela. Lol she ain’t getting any calls as we disposed of it but overall beautiful place, lake was nice, cute baby ducklings swimming, the turtles resting on the floating swim island. Definitely recommend just don’t call Angela she is being naughty. Seriously though I’m thankful for the time I’ve spent here. Site 2 is amazing and they also provide firewood which was awesome! Thank you so much!

Our family has resided on this magnificent property for over 20 years. In the 1950s, before the home was built, our land was known as "the point." Lovers used to drive onto the property, park at the end of the lot which overlooks the eastern plains, and... you know... We live on 6.5 acres of stunning forested land located 1000 feet above downtown Boulder. Our property rests on a peninsula with views of the white-capped peaks to the west and the city lights to the east. The property feels far away from the bustle of city life, yet it is only an EIGHT-MINUTE drive to the heart of downtown Boulder's historic shopping district and ten minutes from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Vista Tranquila, the name given to our property by its previous owners, has trails to meander, picnic tables, horseshoes, swings hanging from the trees, a competitive-level trampoline, benches with views, and hammocks. The communal food prep area has a gas grill, a table for food prep, and a seating area. We request that guests pack out all trash. Since we do not provide stoves, pans, utensils, or cleanup facilities, please bring paper towels to wipe off your stoves, pans, dishes, and utensils. A well-maintained portable flush toilet is provided in a tall tent near the main residence. A spigot can be found with fresh well water on the back side of the main residence. We do not offer showers. However, the Boulder Recreation Center (a 10-minute drive) offers showers and other facilities for a small fee. You can enjoy a historic mining town experience with fine dining and live bluegrass/ folk music at the town of Gold Hill which is less than 20 minutes up our canyon. Kayakers, climbers, hikers, and cyclists (mountain, road, and gravel) will have an outdoor playground within a very short drive or right outside our door. World-class climbing located at Eldorado Canyon State Park is only a 25-minute drive. If you seek bigger peaks beyond Boulder Mountain Parks, the Indian Peaks Wilderness and Rocky Mountain National Park are a gorgeous 45-minute drive.

Colorado River Camp Has It All!

One of the valleys last original stone homes dating back to 1845. We have been restoring the buildings made from the stone. The main house which is not yet finished has beautiful etched glass windows of the cattle drives. James Hinds the homesteader and original owner of the ranch created the ware and hinds ditch which supplies our abundant Valley water. He was a prominent attorney and got our water rights given to us forever from President Harrison. It includes water that extends to the middle of the Colorado River and the one mile of our shoreline. Everyday that we live here we give thanks for his wisdom and foresight. The once huge ranch that used to extend across I -70 and to the far side of the Colorado River is now reduced to our beautiful 110 acres, but it is the most beautiful and historic part of his astounding empire. I bought this land to move from HoustonLearn more about this land:I widened the gate and moved my mailbox for easier access. Butane fire rings allowed on private property during a fire ban . Camp anywhere on 60 acres. In one direction there are rolling meadow. Another rocky outcropping. Look to the south and you’ll see the BLM land that shares my fence line. If you want access to town you’re there. You choose how you want to feel. In the woods, in the forest, on huge rocks, flat land or turn around and see CR 1 ( 1/4 mile driveway). Forty five minutes west of Colorado Springs, ten miles to Divide for grocers. One half mile to ice, gas, pizza etc. It is first come first serve with the sites. Two that are near trees for large RVs. One up higher works for pull thru trailers. Plenty of room in the pasture. I just got my first negative review referring to it being dry prairie land. Some pictures are from late last summer.. We haven’t had enough rain yet for it to green up. Also it can be windy.

Welcome to Camp Wilder! We are an off-the-beaten-path camp offering peace and solitude. The cabin is very special to my family and me. It was passed down as a mining claim from my grandmother who founded it in the '60s. The vision for the land was simply perfect. A small 10 x 10 cabin with the whole mountain to explore and whoever they wished to bring with them. The town of Nederland is 10 minutes down the road where you can fish at Baker Reservoir. Lots of fun little stores in town to keep the family busy. Wildlife is everywhere up by the cabin/campsite, always remember don't leave food lying around with lots of great things to look for around the magical town of Nederland. The cabin sleeps up to 8 with the futon downstairs being very comfortable and 3" foam upstairs in the loft for more sleeping area. Bring your sleeping bags to stay cozy at night. There are lanterns inside to light up your night with a wood stove to keep you warm at night. The ground around it is sloped so you may have a hard time setting up any tents around the cabin. The grocery store is in Nederland where you can buy food, Coleman green propane bottles, gallon jugs of water and wood. There is a 3 burner Coleman, stove to cook on with limited pots & pans as well as silverware. Road disclaimer, the road to the cabin is one lane dirt road. The drive up to the cabin is pretty good but the turn onto the single dirt road to the cabin has a slight dip, if you have a low-clearance car it may bottom out when you are turning so be careful. No Trailers. They will not be able to turn around once there. Recommend vehicles with AWD. Go 3.4 miles up Caribou road. Turn right @ yellow stakes go .4 miles. Park on the left. Hike down to the cabin between yellow stakes. We are @ 10,000 feet and it is a slight hike to the cabin. Go 3.4 miles up Caribou road. Turn right @ yellow stakes go .4 miles When leaving please make sure both door locks are locked, put the key in the lock box and mix the code for the next camper.

Glen Isle is located in Bailey, Colorado which is the perfect vacation spot for friends, family, reunions, or a private get away. Glen Isle was originally built for an escape from hectic Denver. Once you cross the bridge into the resort, you’ll understand why it has served as a peaceful getaway for over a century. The Platte River welcomes you and divides the property from Highway 285. If you love to fish, you have a mile of the river to use at your disposal. If hiking is your forte and you desire to explore nature, Glen Isle is surrounded by the National Forest, Lost Creek Wilderness, Payne Gulch Trailhead, the Colorado Trail and many private acres for you to explore. You will find history narrates the Native American’s story where Glen Isle was once used as an Indian encampment, and numerous trees still stand today that were culturally modified to mark sacred treasures. If you seek tranquility, you will find hummingbirds and chipmunks always seeking an audience to entertain. Our camping areas have a river setting, glorious valley views, and a private setting surrounded by the National Forest. However, there is renovation and construction going on around some areas of the property. Additionally, as you can see from the map and read in a few reviews, we are just on the other side of the beautiful Platte River from Highway 285. About 75% of our guests are not bothered by the busyness of the this highway but others can be more sensitive to the noise. We want Glen-Isle campers to enjoy their experience as much as possible, so if you would like more information, please do not hesitate to ask. Our goal is to share the property with others, and to have the "happiest" campers in Colorado!) Glen Isle Resort was opened in 1901, by five original investors. In 1923, the property was bought by the Baldwin's and in the 1940's it was given to the Baldwin's granddaughter, Barbara and her husband Gordon Tripp. The Tripp family owned and operated the resort until Barbara's death in November 2012. Mary Ruth grew up coming to Glen Isle Resort as a child in the 1970's. Her favorite memories are the chuckwagon dinners, horseback riding, evening dances, movie nights, and the endless activities that never grew old. Mary Ruth grew up, married Greg, and they started bringing their five boys to Glen Isle Resort. Mary Ruth and Greg were both professionals in education, and visited Glen Isle in the summer of 2016 after an Adele concert. They found their beloved Glen Isle was being sold. After much consideration, they found the idea of not pursuing a dream to be more terrifying than looking back and wondering "why" they didn't...so they began the magical journey to purchase, restore, and bring historical Glen Isle back to life.

Little Scraggy Camp is located on 95 acres of an historic 160-acre ranch that was homesteaded by our family in the 1890’s, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This totally off-grid ranch is surrounded by Pike National Forest, yet has easy access from a paved road. We offer several accommodations and glamping sites, as well as sites for moderate sized RVs, travel trailers, truck campers, vans, tents, and hammocks. NEW FOR 2024: All campers can take advantage of our Hipcamper golf discounts at Little Scraggy Disc Golf Course. Across the road from Camp is our newly constructed 18 hole course with PDGA regulation baskets, a pro shop with LSDG discs available for purchase and loaner discs available for those wanting to try out disc golf. Potable drinking water is available from onsite 270-gallon water tanks. Portable toilets are only a short walk away from sites. Friendly dogs are welcome to enjoy YOUR campsite off leash, but please clean up after your dog. If your pet has any aggressive tendencies, it must be leashed. The camp has a 4 basket disc golf putting course with loaner discs provided. We also have a cornhole toss game at both the glamping/rv camp area and tent/rv area. We are an ideal basecamp for the casual or dedicated trail enthusiast. The ranch itself has several trails and easy trail loops to explore within and just outside of the ranch’s fence lines, with direct access to the 9.5-mile Little Scraggy Trail and Segment #3 of the Colorado Trail. Just 3.5 miles away is the Little Scraggy Trailhead, where you will find easy access for biking, hiking, or horseback riding on the many other trails of the Buffalo Creek area. Additionally, we have an extensive network of hiking and horse trails that avoid conflicts with mountain bikers. You might prefer rock climbing Little Scraggy or fishing the gold-medal waters of the South Platte River canyon below Cheesman Dam and the waters near Deckers. For a day trip, Wellington Lake is only 30 minutes away for no-wake water sports. Many people enjoy kayaking on the North Fork of the South Platte downstream from nearby Buffalo Creek. This is a working ranch where we raise and train horses and ponies. Our particular interest is in carriage driving, and we offer driving experiences upon request. Our site called Mountain Horse Camp, provides 3 individual porta-panel horse corrals. There is limited cell service.

In 2021, we were featured in USA Todays Ten Best for star gazing! My property has 360 degree mountains views with the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range as our back yard. Nearby you can find many different trail systems for all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. From hiking to jeeping, ATV or dirt biking and equestrians - you can find it all! You will be surrounded by BLM land, BACA land, and Wildlife Refuge just two miles away. Be sure to bring extra bug spray and protection needed against biting insects such as flies, gnats, and mosquitoes. For those bringing your pets, they MUST be on a leash/lead at all times. While I do not have much cactus on my property, I do have an abundance of greasewood (Chico brush) which is very thorn-like if stepped on. Close to BLM, and National Forest as well as 3 hot springs within 20 miles and the Great Sand Dunes. Salida area is also home to a ton of hiking (14'ers anyone?) and mountain biking trails. The Royal Gorge is a quick 30 minute drive with restaurants and other fun near Canon City. The Sand Dunes are 90 minutes and Monarch Ski Area is 45, we have some of the best bird watching! Warbling Vireo, Western Wood-peewee, Cassin's Kingbird to name a few.
